May 15, 2018

Rock and Road Training has announced it will be a training partner for Vision Zero, a global campaign that aims to prevent accidents, diseases and harm at work.

Gordon Dick, Director of Rock and Road, is an experienced trainer and with 20 years learning and experience in the industry, he is well-prepared to work with organisations at all levels. Gordon specialises in high-risk sectors including mining and quarrying, but an industry-trained operations manager with a background in production, manufacturing and engineering, Gordon is ideally placed to work with a wide variety of businesses to reduce or eradicate accidents at work and improve employee’s wellbeing.

Rock and Road Training is one of only four trainers in the UK. The consultancy service specialises in providing management support and training in safe working practices, particularly within hazardous and high-risk areas. Companies that work with Rock and Road benefit from advice from an independent focused, experienced individuals.

“By providing up-to-date support and advice, we assist companies in developing a stronger safety culture within their operations,” Explained Gordon. “Ultimately, at Rock and Road, we help businesses to develop their own strategies to achieve a sustainable improvement in culture and performance, thereby maximising operations and reaching their potential.”

Each year, there are 340 million work-related accidents and 2.78 million deaths through work-related diseases. Led by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Vision Zero is the first-ever global campaign which aims to improve safety, health and well-being at work and eradicate all work-related injuries and illnesses. Vision Zero is backed by IOSH, the world’s largest professional health and safety organisation. Since it was launched in September 2017, over 500 organisations across the world have joined Vision Zero as partners.

Rock and Road’s training will incorporate the recently launched Vision Zero guide and Vision Zero’s Seven Golden Rules, which form a roadmap to provide employees with an approach to accident prevention based on practical management concepts. A trainer from Rock and Road will help to identify the steps that organisations need to take, depending on whether they need to focus on health, safety or wellbeing. The Vision Zero approach is flexible enough to adapt to any situation. Ultimately, a trainer from Rock and Road will use their expertise to guide organisations in developing their own effective Vision Zero culture and strategy.

“The Vision Zero campaign is based on the ethos that all work-related accidents and diseases are preventable,” concludes Gordon. “At Rock and Road, we strongly believe that this is true and we look forward to working with organisations to make it a reality.”
